Using Gmail to view your email account
NOTE:

- The following tutorial is provided as a courtesy to our customers to help you configure your mail software to work with our hosting solutions.
- Third-party software cannot be supported by adghosting.
Configuring your email client: Gmail
- Log into your Gmail account.
- Click on Settings in the upper right corner.
- Click on the Accounts tab.
- Click "Add a mail account you own" . A new window will pop up.
- Enter your full email address in the new window.
- In the next window, enter
- Your full username including the @example.com
- The password for the account
- Make sure the POP Server is mail.example.com and Port 110 is selected.
- Check "Leave a copy of retrieved message on the server" unless you want the mail to be deleted from the server once you receive it in Gmail.
- Do NOT check the SSL option.
- Set the label and the archive options according to personal preference.
- Click Add Account. You should see a
confirmation screen. Leave the "Yes"
option checked if you want to be able to send mail with this account. Click Next Step.
- Enter whatever name you want to associate with this account. Click Next Step.
- Click Send Verification.
- Log into your webmail account.
- For the (gs) and the (ss): Go to example.com/webmail in your browser, and log in normally.
- For the (dv): Go to webmail.example.com in
your browser, and log in normally.
- Open the Gmail Confirmation email.
- Either click on the provided confirmation link; or, enter the confirmation
code provided and click Verify. The small window will close automatically.
- You should still be in the Accounts tab. You may want to set Gmail to reply from the same address a message was sent to. To do this, select the first option under "When receiving a message:"
- The Accounts tab is also where you can manually get the mail from your
(mt) Media Temple account. Click "Check mail
now" . You do not need to do this to get your mail; it just forces a
manual check.
- Congratulations. The mail for your
adghosting email account will now appear in your normal Gmail inbox.
